When I was a boy growing up in Oklahoma, the only music I was exposed to was traditional Country Music, artists like Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens and Tammy Wynette were a huge part of my life. We had one of those giant television stereo combos that had an 8 track player in it and my granny would play those 8 tracks all day, I'd pretend I was the singer and sing along. Also as a boy I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show which still seems like yesterday to me, the songs are so memorable... well the older people thought they were singin devil music or something but I'd still sneak a listen when I could. My first Rock and Roll records were Deep Purple (Machine Head) and Alice Cooper (Schools Out) I remember listening to their music and staring at the LP covers for hours, something we all miss nowadays.
At the age of 15 I had to leave home and moved into an apartment with my friend Scott, who was a guitar player in a band. One day I was singing along to some Led Zeppelin and he asked "Wanna sing for my band?" Of course I obliged. We played yard parties, beer parties and high school gigs, it was my start.
Later I joined a popular group called DARE FORCE in Minneapolis, we played night clubs with a grueling 7 nights per week schedule, doing mostly covers and some of our own music. After we'd reached our plateau I kept pushing the band to go to L.A. but they were happy being kings in our town, so off I went!
Well L.A. is like a monster who's never full and ready to devour at anytime, seemed like everyone had the same idea as me, never the less I pushed on. Finally I hooked up with guitarist Mitch Perry and we did a 4 song demo which ended up in the hands of Dieter Dierks. At this time he was seeking for a vocalist to replace Udo Dirkschneider in ACCEPT. The plan was to hire an American singer and broaden their base, after a short phone call from Wolf Hoffman off I went again. I'll tell you I thought I was the master as a vocalist but nothing was further from the truth! I soon learned there's much more to being a singer than just being able to hit the notes! I'm grateful for the strong work ethic while recording with them.
After Accept I was off to L.A. again, this time with a pocket full of momentum and all the goods behind me, BANGALORE CHOIR was formed. Only 9 shows later in Hollywood, we had a major deal with Giant Records and recorded the album 'ON TARGET'. But it seemed like the melodic, positive Hairmetal Rock scene died overnight, by the way I'm really happy about the resurrection happening right now! We were dropped by the label within weeks and well? Game over !
Affected by the drastic climate change in the music scene I hung around L.A. a few more years, recorded 2 records with my group SIRCLE OF SILENCE, we played around but didn't have much success. So one day I just said ENOUGH !!! I'm sick and tired of this and I quit !
I moved to Montana, seemed a perfect escape from the madness but deep down inside I yearned to sing !
One day I received a call from an old friend in Dare Force and he said, why not get together and jam? Which I agreed to. We recorded some songs and we posted them on myspace. About a week later Martin Kronlund asked me if I'd be interested in a group called GYPSY ROSE in Sweden, we recorded 'Another World' in 2007 and released it in June 2008 on Escape Music Ltd.
2008 I moved back to germany and contacted Georg Siegl from Metal Heaven Records, he asked me if I would be interested to record a track on the new upcoming 'Voices of Rock' album, procuced by Michael Voss and Chris Lausmann, which I gladly agreed to do.
I also released my first solo record 2009 on Metal Heaven Records entitled 'UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE'. This record is truly an expression of my life's journey. Produced, co-written and guitar duties by Andy Susemihl, on bass Jochen Fuenders and skin smasher Stefan Schwarzmann on drums.
Here I am again stronger, happier, better! Writing on numerous records, doing large festivals and recently fulfilling a dream by reforming BANGALORE CHOIR with a 2nd record release, the album is called 'CADENCE'. To be working with great artists like Andy Susemihl, Curt Mitchell, Danny Greenberg and Hans in't Zandt and so many others... it has been and is a true rebirth for me! But without each and every one of you none of this would be possible and from my heart I thank you all!
