Serpent & Seraph

In the Wake

Often described as a Death/Black/Goth Metal type band Serpent & Seraph appropriately fit the bill as they manage a brutal and yet highly polished fusion of all genres while remaining genre free in their unique approach. It's probably best not to try to categorize a band that handily shatters any preconceptions you may have all within the confines of each song. In the Wake is a roller coaster ride that gives you haunting melodies interspersed with chaotic musicianship as evident in songs like the title track and Enslaved. Start getting used to the brutality and they'll hit you with memorable melody. Start getting used to the melody and they attack with a high speed sonic assault.

Front and center for both the band and this release is the ever awesome Kas St. Clare. Her vocal style is the best of every metal World you can think of and Kas definitely goes toe to toe with any of her peers with a voice that is both savage and seductive. Her range and ability is complimented well by Claudius Creamer on lead/rhythm guitar, Marcel Eaton on Bass, Joe Lepresti on drums and Brian McCarver on Keys.

Ultimately Serpent & Seraph won't be embraced by the closed minded because it doesn't fit quietly into one category. But that's a good thing because closed minded thinking never led to anything great. This is a great band with a great release and a great future. The music is solid. The musicianship is solid. In the Wake is solid. Do yourself a favor and check this band out.
